Spring is in the air and the Monon Trail is becoming populated again. But before the gates fully open there should be some thinning of the herd.

On the Monon there is an etiquette that has to be upheld in order for the smooth flow and harmony of people.

1. Stay in the proper lane for the direction your moving. Don't swim up stream

2. Don't stop on the trail, move off to the side.

3. The proper term when passing people is "on your left"

4. The trail is for everyone so be respectful.

5. Wait for cars to pass. If they stop to let you pass a kind wave or a head nod is in order.

6. If you're walking you dog on the trail have them "do their business" anywhere but on the trail.

If you can't follow these rules then stay off trail. If you can, then join others in enjoying the perks of Indianapolis.
