I recently towed my car into the Firestone Auto Repair on N. Keystone because my car wouldn't start. It was the best option because it was the closest to my house, even though I haven't used them before. I was delighted to hear from Derek the next day that all that was wrong was that the bolts that hold the starter together were loose, and not something serious. When I went to pick up my car it was a total of $150. Most of which was labor. Now wait a minute. When a car doesn't start isn't the first thing that you check is the starter? and isn't the first thing you do is loosen up the bolts to check the starter? Why was labor $50 and an engine diagnostic $100 when the first thing you check was what is wrong with the car? They then had the balls to ask if I wanted to have some other minor work done to the car. Come on Firestone. It's so hard to find a trustworthy place to take your car and when a new face rolls in your business you should make them feel like your not ripping them off so they come back. Especially in this economy when everyone is tight, why not give them a break to come back especially when all that is wrong is some loose bolts. A bad economy is not a sign to rip as many people off as you can to make the most money. It's a chance to build relationships with people that are going through the same money problems that you and your business are and to earn their money by keeping their business.
Ok so everyone in the state of Indiana knows how bad the roads were Tuesday. They were so bad that one of my employees had a serious car accident right in front of my office and I ran out to help her. She was really bad off, she was bleeding profusely and had broken bones in her face. The really F*cked up thing was there is a doctor's office right in front of where the accident happened and one of the people helping us ran over to the doctor's office to ask if they could come out and help. They REFUSED! Said that due to office policy/liability they could not help her and that we would just have to wait for the ambulance. OH MY GOD! WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BEING A DOCTOR IF YOU DON'T HELP SOMEONE IN NEED!???? What if she were bleeding from an artery and would die in minutes if someone didn't stop the flow of blood and we couldn't wait for the ambulance? she would have died waiting and the doctors would have just sat in their office looking out the window. SOMETIMES the legal world has really screwed us that doctors are afraid to do what they were trained to do because they don't want to be sued.
So I work in a dental office and we take medicaid. Medicaid is government aid for those supposedly unable to care for themselves or their kids. I am not opposed to medicaid, what I am opposed to are the people who abuse it. Time after time we see people on medicaid that drive up in nice cars, whip out their cell phones and their cigarette packs and then they also have attitudes. Sometimes people who don't make enough money that they have to be on government assistance need a reality check!
If you are on medicaid DROP THE SELF ENTITLED ATTITUDE and try and make some changes in your life to get off of medicaid. You can save a ton of money by:
just with these 5 small changes these people can save over $267 a month. That's $3200 a year.
And no you don't need a cell phone. 13 years ago no one had one and we lived just fine without one!
Case in point: Thursday we saw a teenager who has a ton of work to do. So the mom brings her in to the office for the work. We take her back and discuss her treatment and we decided that instead of her having to take off from school and her mother having to take off of work 4x since she has cavities in all 4 quadrants of her mouth that we will do the whole left side today. Well lets just say that mom got all pissy out in the waiting room because,"it was taking TOO DAMN LONG!!!!!" OK so let me get this straight...you don't pay for the dental work your daughter is getting done today and we're trying to save you time and money by doing an extra quadrant on her so you don't have to take her out of school and you take off of work to bring her in again. OK so now what are you bitching about? Some people act like they are so entitled! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-
On one of the local "get it free" sites, it seems there are so many liars there now, who promise you their item and tell you to come and get it, only to arrive to pick it up after driving some distance, and find out they have already given it to someone else and they 'forgot' to tell you before driving to their home for pick up???
And Craigslist now has so many biggots and asses that flag all 'wanting free' postings as they do not want 'beggars' on "their site"!
I have a raccoon in my attic. I called Gold Seal an Indianapolis pest control business. They came and set a trap outside my house in the common path of the masked mammal.
So why am I ranting?
Well the trap that they set didn't work. They didn't use it properly and the raccoon ate the food and walked right out. I called them back and told them about the situation.
Now three weeks later nothing has been done. The empty trap is there. The raccoon is still in my attic and I still can't sleep.
With the economy down and businesses struggling you can't skimp on value. Customer appreciation should be at an all time high. If it's not then your're going to have to close your doors.
A Lacy prediction for 2009: Gold Seal will have to close because people stop using them. Their excuse, the economy, the real reason, they lack business common sense and should be washed away with the rest of the businesses that are not strong enough to make it through a recession.
I took my car into two different Jiffy Lubes this week. The one in broad ripple on college was the worst of the two, but it was a combined effort that left the bad taste in my mouth. Neither one of the establishments could pull my car into the port because it was a manual.
I watched Billy, the head at the broad ripple jiffy lube stall my car twice and then get out, come over to me and tell me that there is something wrong with my clutch. I told him he was wrong and pulled the car in. He then refused any service on my transmission because the clutch was bad and I could sue him. Ok you don't want to do it, i'll leave and never come back.
The Jiffy Lube on 82nd street flat out admitted not knowing how to drive a clutch. Asked me to pull in and proceeded to give wonderful service. Thanks.
Why cant people who work with a car 40 hours a week drive a manual? Why isn't it a requirement that someone on staff has this knowledge?
If you don't know your screws from your nuts but know how to drive a stick, you'll be one up on the gear heads at jiffy lube.
Just because you're hurting for cash and you're doing everything you can to stay afloat it doesn't mean you should get worked over.
Employment Plus, an Indianapolis temporary employment service, screwed me bigtime. I had to pay an extra $25 for a drug test and $10 for a background check when I came in that they didn't even mention on the phone. Also, if you voluntarily end your assignment they will pay you less than what you are owed on your final paycheck. I have worked for a couple temp agencies in Indy and this was the worst service and lowest pay of them all. They're taking advantage of people and the times. Don't be a victim.
First of all, why can't you stick to a schedule? School busses have no problem showing up at the same time every day. But apart from showing up whenever the hell you want, there's an even bigger problem. Why the hell would you put all the trashcans in the middle of the road?!!! Not just mine, which you occasionally decide to give to the neighbors. No, this time I looked down the road and EVERYONE'S trashcans are upside down, sitting in the middle of the street. WTF?! Do you think nobody drives on this street? You're driving on it! So now, either somebody is gonna run over everyone's trashcans or have to get out and place them back in their yards individually. Does this city only employ disgruntled assholes? What's the matter, healthcare and $25/hour not good enough? If you don't like your job, shit, I'll take it.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuck!! If you are smart, you will never move into these apartments. Every Saturday the lawn crew begins mowing at 8 am and the residents have to hear mowers, weed whackers, and leaf blowers continuously until 4 pm. It's ridiculous! How many times do they have to keep going over the same areas? They have to be getting paid by the hour because they milk the shit out of that job every weekend.
